Thanksgiving with the Johnson’s

We had a nice Thanksgiving in NJ with Al’s family. It was a good time together.

We took pictures of the cousins all together.

The kids spent lots of time with Grammie and PapPap. Grammie had promised to bake pumpkin pie for Ruth and Ruth promised to share it with others (ha – she thought the pie was only for her!) Daniel was looking forward to carving a pumpkin with PapPap from his garden. Daniel wasn’t too sure about the idea of scraping out the inside of the pumpkin. He did some of it but most of it was done by PapPap along with the carving!

Here is Daniel back at home (notice the snow!) with his “jack-o-lanter”, as he calls it.

And we got to bring home some of PapPap’s honey!

Presidential Spellcheck

In typing up something today – I noticed that spellcheck wants to correct “Barack” and “Obama”. Their suggested corrections included “John” and “McCain”, respectively. Ha – anyway… I guess spellcheck will need to catch up!

“Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods?

Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

You stretched out your right hand;
the earth swallowed them.

You have led in your steadfast love
the people whom you have redeemed;
you have guided them by
your strength to your holy abode.”

Exodus 15:11-13

Don’t forget to Vote (as if you could forget!)

Election Day tomorrow.

Justin Taylor, who always has a penetrating Christian worldview (imho), offers some election blogging. He posted a video a couple of days ago by John Piper that elicited comments from all over. In response, JT posted some clarification and even some *gasp* qualms. It’s an excellent post and my favorite quote in all of it can be applied universally, from politics to child-rearing to evangelism to marriage to employment… Regarding the sovereignty of God over all things, JT says,

“… God not only ordains ends but also commands and ordains means… The fact that God ordains means ensures that our actions have significance. The ordained outcome can never be seen as an excuse for complacency or fatalism.”

One other item I thought was perceptive was that he said that for some politics can become an idol. We must be able to be passionate about something without worshipping it!

If you were a fly on the wall here, you might see this on Sunday mornings…

We usually listen to music while we get ready on Sunday Morning before heading off to breakfast and then church. The kids always dance around once they’re ready to go. Here’s a little glimpse of this morning. Daniel cracks me up in it, I literally laugh out loud every time I watch him.
