A good Sunday

We had a blessed Sunday.

Here are the kiddos in their Sunday duds…

At church, we heard a stirring sermon from our faithful pastor, Ed Hart check it out here… (click on Audio and find May 27th.) Pastor Hart preached from a number of texts including II Peter 3:11-13…

“Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”

What a great promise from a faithful, sovereign, omnipotent God!

And then some of our little girls met one of the newest little girls, Baby Chloe. Congratulations to Beth and Ryan!

I’ll post about the rest of our day tomorrow…

More Love to Thee

More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to Thee!
Hear Thou the prayer I make on bended knee.
This is my earnest plea:
More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Once earthly joy I craved, sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek, give what is best.
This all my prayer shall be:
More love, O Christ to Thee;More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Let sorrow do its work, come grief or pain;
Sweet are Thy messengers, sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with me:
More love, O Christ, to Thee;More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Then shall my latest breath whisper Thy praise;
This be the parting cry my heart shall raise;
This still its prayer shall be:
More love, O Christ to Thee;More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Elizabeth Prentiss, 1856

This hymn was written during an illness and kept for 13 years until she showed it to her husband, who encouraged her to print it. I love how some of it shows up in Stepping Heavenward and since I’m reading her biography, I am excited to post it.
