Spring has sprung – Finally!!!!

Our first load of what will be many loads of wash on the clothesline this year! Don’t worry, I won’t post pictures of every load.

I Samuel 3 – some quick thoughts

In the beginning of the chapter, it says that Samuel was ministering to the LORD under Eli (who had a prophet visit and tell him his future from God). And then there is the calling of the LORD to Samuel – three times. In the middle of the section, as if to explain how Samuel didn’t realize that it was God calling him, it says, “now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, and the Word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.” God works the same way in the OT and the NT. The Word of the LORD must be revealed (by God)to know God (be saved). “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you,” Ephesians 1:17-18. The sovereignty of God in the salvation of those he chooses.

One other note from chapter 3 from the end, vs. 19 says, “And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.” The presence of God remained with Samuel. I had to look up what ‘none of his words fall to the ground’ meant – it means that all Samuel said comes true. A true prophet according to the Law of Israel.

Morning Coffee…

“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.
For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.”
Psalm 5:11-12
